The purpose of this research is to develop teaching methods where students can voluntarily use learning strategies in studying elementary school science. (1)Over a period of 2 years, we studied what types of learning method items children could use, among students who were encouraged to use learning method items in science class. As a result, the following 2 points became clear. ①Students used learning method items when they did such things as predict results, plan experiments, verify their ideas, and summarize results. ②Students used learning method items when they decided the direction in which to advance their studies and when they tried to make their thoughts more solid.
