La empresa familiar en Venezuela: rasgos distintivos de su situación

The present paper aimed to analyze the situation that Venezuelan family businesses present. A descriptive study was made of a sample of one hundred six companies of different sizes and economic activities. The study focused on determining the demographic characteristics and employment of its members as well as the degree of development for the government organs that makes it possible to mitigate the effects of the family system, as well as measure the impact of some environmental variables on its production management. The data shows that the majority of the production units are transiting the first generation of entrepreneurs, where the small and medium predominate; there is a scarce presence of government organizations and the absence of plans for succession. The above makes it possible to assume that in the future, serious difficulties could appear associated with such deficiencies and the influence of an adverse economic, political and social environment.  El presente artículo tuvo como objetivo analizar la situación que presentan las empresas familiares venezolanas, con este propósito se realizó un estudio de tipo descriptivo a una muestra de ciento seis empresas, de diferentes tamaños y actividades económicas. El estudio se centró en determinar las características demográficas de sus miembros, empleo y grado de desarrollo de los órganos de gobierno que permiten atenuar los efectos del sistema familia, así como también medir el impacto de algunas variables del entorno en su gestión productiva. Los datos obtenidos evidencian que la mayoría de las unidades de producción están transitando la primera generación de empresarios, donde predominan las pequeñas y medianas, existe una escasa presencia de los órganos de gobierno y la inexistencia de planes de sucesorales. Lo anterior permite presumir que en el futuro puedan presentarse graves dificultades, asociadas a tales carencias y a la influencia de un entorno económico, político y social adverso. &nbsp
