Gestión de investigación y desarrollo (I+D) en institutos universitarios tecnológicos

Research in higher education institutions represents the engine for economic growth in the regions. Research and development management was analyzed at university technological institutes related to the basic sciences in the State of Falcon; the population included 27 teachers selected from these institutes. The study was descriptive with a non-experimental, transectional design. A questionnaire with 51 Lickert scale items was used to gather information. Validity of the contents was determined through the judgment of 4 experts; reliability was measured using the Alpha Cronbach coefficient. Data was analyzed with SPSS software, version 15, using descriptive statistics. Results indicated that the institutions are not managing research and development due to a lack of research policies to incentivize them and a lack of economic resources. Recommendations are to activate research at these institutions, increase the generation, transmission and transfer of knowledge oriented toward the mission for which they were createdLas investigaciones en instituciones superiores representan el motor para el crecimiento económico de regiones. Se analizó la gestión de investigación y desarrollo en institutos universitarios tecnológicos del estado Falcón, afines a ciencias básicas; la población incluía 27 docentes seleccionados de estos institutos. El estudio fue descriptivo, con un diseño no-experimental transeccional. Se aplicó un cuestionario de 51 ítems escala Lickert para obtener información. La validez del contenido fue evaluado por 4 expertos; se midió la confiabilidad con el coeficiente Alfa Cronbach. Se analizaron los datos con el programa SPSS, versión 15, usando estadística descriptiva. Los resultados indicaron que las instituciones no lleven una gestión de I+D por falta de políticas de investigación para incentivarlas y por carecer de recursos tangibles. Se recomienda activar el área investigativa en estas instituciones, incrementar la generación, transmisión y transferencia del conocimiento orientado hacia la misión por la cual fueron creadas
