Revisitando a noção de Morte em Spinoza

The aim of this article is to examine the conceptions about death and understand how the destruction of a singular thing occurs, from the perspective of Spinozian philosophy. In addition to entering into the propositions that address the issue of death, we dialogued with commentators on Spinoza's work who dedicated themselves to analyzing this theme. We note that there is not always a consensus among them and we proceeded to return to the philosopher's writings to resolve any controversies. We reread an example used by Spinoza to illustrate the perseverance in being – namely, the lit candle – and we propose an alternative interpretation to those found among his commentators. We conclude by stating that destruction can take place within singular things, without, however, contradicting Spinozian thought.O objetivo de presente artigo é examinar as concepções sobre a morte e compreender como ocorre a destruição de um coisa singular, na perspectiva da filosofia spinoziana. Além de adentrar nas proposições que abordam a problemática da morte, dialogamos com comentadores da obra de Spinoza que se dedicaram a analisar essa temática. Observamos que nem sempre há consenso entre eles e procedemos a um retorno aos escritos do filósofo para resolver eventuais controvérsias. Realizamos a releitura de um exemplo utilizado por Spinoza para ilustrar a perseverança no ser – a saber, a vela acessa – e propomos uma interpretação alternativa àquelas encontradas entre seus comentadores. Concluímos afirmando que a destruição pode ter lugar no interior das coisas singulares, sem, contudo, contrariar o pensamento spinoziano
