Satlinmas is a civil society organization that has the duty and function to protect and maintain security for the community, but in reality Satlinmas has not carried out its duties and functions properly. The purpose of this study is to analyze the role of community protection units (Satlinmas) in maintaining public security and order in Samkai Village, Merauke Regency. The research method used is a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Data collection techniques are observation, interviews and documentation. Data analysis techniques are data reduction, data presentation and conclusions. .The results showed that the community protection unit (Satlimnas) in Samakai Village, Merauke Regency has not been optimal in carrying out its role in accordance with community expectations and the demands of laws and regulations both in terms of protection, peace, and also guarantees for the order of community life. This can cause crimes to continue to occur in Samkai Village because Satlinmas who are tasked with providing protection and security for the community have not carried out their role with a sense of responsibility. Another thing is counterproductive where linmas should provide protection for the community, precisely linmas people also participate in committing crimes.
