Investigación de la Producción Científica en España sobre la Mutilación Genital Femenina

Female Genital Mutilation is a cultural practice generally carried out in different countries of sub-Saharan Africa, the Middle East and Asia, although it is also very present in Spain. This study aims to analyze of the scientific production implement in Spain in the Web of Science and Scopus databases focused on this problem. After carrying out various inclusion and exclusion criteria, 39 articles have finally been chosen for a subsequent quantitative analysis through the databases used, to finally make a qualitative analysis on various variables that affect Female Genital Mutilation. To carry out the research, 12 variables have been considered: the databases from which the scientific production has been extracted, the number of citations, the year of publication, the research areas in which each research article is found, the language in which they are written, the authors and the index of co-authorship. In relation to the variables used for the qualitative analysis, the presence of consequences of women who have suffered FGM, the ages at which they were mutilated, the most used types of FGM, the training of professionals in Spain and aspects of FGM related to different cultures. The results obtained reveal a lack of education on the part of health professionals in Spain. It is essential, after obtaining the different results, to reinforce the training and the different action plans carried out in Spain against FGM to control the consequences in our country.La Mutilación Genital Femenina es una práctica cultural realizada generalmente en diferentes países del África subsahariana, Oriente Medio y Asia, aunque también se encuentra muy presente en España. Este estudio tiene como objetivo llevar a cabo un análisis de la producción científica en España en las bases de datos Web of Science y Scopus centrada en esta problemática. Empleando diversos criterios de inclusión y exclusión, hemos contado con una muestra final de 39 artículos sobre los que hemos llevado a cabo un análisis cuantitativo y cualitativo sobre diversas variables de estudio. Los resultados obtenidos revelan un mayor número de publicaciones en la base de datos Web of Science sobre dicha temática y una mayor producción científica en el año 2019, principalmente en el área de ciencias de la salud. Además, el análisis cualitativo identifica una insuficiente formación por parte de los profesionales de la salud en España, que nos lleva a concluir sobre la importancia de potenciar la formación y los diferentes planes de actuación realizados en España contra la MGF para controlar las consecuencias en nuestro país
