The aim of this paper is to determine if the Nova Scotia Grade Primary curriculum contains learning outcomes and/or performance indicators that can be used to teach ecoliteracy. A content analysis was conducted to determine if the curriculum language supported ecology as a unifying theme. This document had some evidence of ecoliteracy as a guiding concept relating to the citizenship competency. Following the literature’s recommendation to teach ecology at a young age, I created a place-based ABC book integrating grade primary outcomes to entice teachers to include the ecoliteracy as goal for the education of young learners.
