This paper is a narrative self-study that follows my journey from a no-choice oriented teacher, to a reflective practitioner, as I attempt to view home economics education through an ecological lens. I begin with an exploration of my personal values and beliefs with regard to food and the environment, and follow my educational journey as I attempt to bridge the divide between the version of myself represented in my professional practice, and the individual represented in my personal life.
