This thesis investigates subversive forms of public and private space emerging from queer theory and disability discourse. In defining queer space (which is subject to change over time and person), this thesis looks at several case studies of architectural intervention done by and for queer people, and extrapolates their qualities. In describing queer space a subversion of heteronormative spaces, the proposed site for intervention is Vatican City, the global headquarters for the Roman Catholic Church, an powerful institution responsible for oppression of queer people.
