In today’s wider adaptation of renewable energy resources, computer simulations and power system transient studies play a vital and enabling role. For conducting the power system studies, the nodal-analysis-based electromagnetic transient program (EMT or EMTP)-type simulators have been widely accepted and used by researchers and engineers as the industry standard tools, wherein the synchronous machines are commonly represented by the general-purpose lumped-parameter models.
