This paper investigates approaches to decolonizing public schools by turning to Indigenous-run schools for directions for creating successful schooling environments for Indigenous youths. Three schools, two on rural, reserve lands and one in an urban centre, were evaluated for commonalities, and then recommendations for changes to public schools are made based on the successes of these schools. Recommendations include Indigenous language instruction, Indigenous decision-making, and implementation of land-based learning pedagogies.Education, Faculty ofEducational Studies (EDST), Department ofUnreviewedGraduat
