Abstract copyright UK Data Service and data collection copyright owner. This is a mixed method data collection. The study is part of the Rural Economy and Land Use (RELU) programme. Escherichia coli (E. coli) infection is a very serious threat to human health. It can be devastating and sometimes fatal, and children and elderly people are at particular risk. Little is known about how it is spread in rural environments. This RELU project brought together an interdisciplinary group of researchers from a wide range of natural and social science disciplines to generate evidence on how to reduce the risk of human E.coli 0157 in UK rural communities. This was addressed through the following work packages:WP 1a: Stakeholder perceptions of riskWP 1b:...
E. coli O157 is shed into the environment from the faeces of infected animals. Once in the soil, the...
Background: Escherichia coli O157 is a bacterial pathogen associated with severe disease in humans f...
To estimate the prevalence of Escherichia coli O157 on Dutch dairy herds, faecal samples were collec...

Here, we bring together and contrast lay (accessible primarily through social science methodologies)...
Escherichia coli O157 is a strain of coliform bacteria associated with serious human disease; infect...
The rural population of Grampian was reported to be two times more likely to suffer from E. coli O15...
The paper uses structural equation modelling applied to survey data to test determinants’ influence ...
Infection with verocytotoxin producing Escherichia coli (VTEC) O157 in humans can lead to mild or bl...
Shiga toxigenic Escherichia coli (STEC) are pathogenic E. coli that cause infectious diarrhoea. In s...

Infection with STEC O157 is relatively rare but has potentially serious sequelae, particularly for c...
