Bacterial diseases are the most dangerous pathogens of kiwifruit, in particular bacterial canker caused by Pseudomonas syringae pv. actinidiae. Control through antibiotics and heavy metals points out environmental and safety issues, stimulating the search for alternative disease control measures.
