International audienceBased on the observation that M. de Gournay’s presence in literary history of France’s seventeenth century is very marginal, this essay examines how value creation process and classification methods contributed to her "disfavour", as this author chose to describe it.Firstly, we explore the historiographical construction of this "disfavoured author" from the seventeenth to the twentieth century : Gournay’s name has often been included in or held against groups based on the issue of language and purism, which soon contributed to divide the 16th and 17th centuries.Secondly, we scrutinize Gournay’s polemical tactics between 1619 and 1626.
