Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death worldwide, accounting for 29% of all global deaths and is set to rise to 23 million deaths a year by 2030 (World Health Organisation, 2012). Arterial bypassing, both peripheral and coronary, is usually performed with autologously harvested vessels.
