What is a concept map?A concept map is a way of organising and presenting knowledge in a visual way. It captures what we know about a topic, but also how different facts and pieces of information relate to each other.Students can work individually, or in small groups, to draw a concept map where ideas are represented as nodes (usually enclosed in circles or boxes), and the relationships between them represented as connecting lines.Concept maps are different from mind maps in that these relationships are described with words or terms written onto the lines e.g. “is caused by”, “leads to” etc (see Fig. 1).
