As one of the most common autosomal recessive conditions in Ireland, cystic fibrosis (CF) is of keen interest to healthcare professionals. Throughout its long history, the treatment strategies for this condition have focused on mitigating the effects described by patients: the thick secretions; the constant infections; and, the inability to absorb nutrients.
