The nomadic people of the early middle ages

Diplomska naloga predstavlja kronološki pregled razvoja in propada štirih izbranih nomadskih ljudstev: Hunov, Avarov, Bolgarov in Madžarov. Opis zgodovine vsakega izmed ljudstev obsega obdobje od prvih znanih virov do posebej izbranega trenutka. Pri zgodovini Hunov in Avarov je to zadnja relevantna omemba ljudstva, pri Bolgarih njihova dokončna izguba samostojnosti, v primeru Madžarov pa sprejetje fevdalizma in krščanstva. Omenjen je tudi vpliv Hunov pri razpadu Zahodnega rimskega cesarstva. Posebej je obravnavana problematika pomanjkanja primarnih virov pri raziskovanju nomadskih ljudstev. Diplomska naloga se zaključi s hipotetičnim vprašanjem, kaj je ločilo Bolgare in Madžare od ostalih, da lahko obstajajo še danes?The thesis describes the chronological development and decline of four selected nomadic peoples. These peoples are the Huns, Avars, Bulgarians and Hungarians. The history of each is described from the first known sources to a specifically chosen moment. For the Huns and Avars this is the last relevant mention, for the Bulgarians the final loss of independence and in the case of the Hungarians the acceptance of feudalism and Christianity. Also mentioned are the influence of the Huns in the collapse of the Western Roman Empire and the problem of the lack of primary sources in researching nomadic people.
