It shows the current efforts in Wales to maximize positive and prevent negative childhood experiences by focusing on strengthening resilience. The approach chosen is based on a comprehensive understanding of how adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) can impact a variety of health and well-being issues both during childhood and later in life. The example shows that building resilience to address ACEs requires a holistic and intersectoral approach to appropriately meet a wide range of emotional and physiological needs. Such an approach should also be characterized by consistency and appropriateness of supportive measures including extended opportunities for learning and growth for children that experienced ACEs.
