The June 2012 UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD or Rio+20), marked the latest milestone in international community efforts to deal holistically with global environmental issues. This chapter gives a general overview of the manner in which Latin American and Caribbean (LAC) counries have addressed environmental problems in the aftermath of the Rio+20 Summit. The focus is inter alia on climate change, deforestation, biofuels and desertification
