Engaging students as partners in learning is a key priority for contemporary Higher Education. By working in partnership with students, there is the potential for a positive impact on both student learning and curriculum development. We have introduced ‘Shadow Modules’, student-led and student-focused collaborative learning communities which parallel taught modules to support student learning. Shadow Modules utilise collaborative learning, where learners work together to develop a shared understanding of a subject. Activities are coordinated by a student volunteer, who interacts with, but works independently from, the academic leading the taught module.
