A1(M) Fletton Parkway to Stamford : An Archaeological Desk-top Study 1992

This desk-top study was commissioned by The ASH Partnership, acting as consultants to Kirkpatrick and Partners, Consulting Engineers to the Department of Transport Eastern Region. The project consists of a desktop study of the known archaeology of an irregular route corridor approximately 2 kilometres wide extending from the A605/Fletton Parkway junction (Peterborough) northwest to Stamford, a distance of 23 kilometres (see Figure 1). This study fulfils a brief set by The ASH Partnership and seen by English Heritage (dated 3/4/92). The goals of the study are: 1. Identify known and probable sites threatened by the proposed road widening scheme; to provide some measure of the density of probable archaeological sites along the route; to identify areas of highest archaeological sensitivity and areas of highest potential, 2. prepare a report addressing suitable options of A l upgrading, particularly in the Water Newton area
