An archaeological investigation was carried out on a length of wall within the southwest corner of the mound at Kirtling Tower. No direct dating evidence was recovered but stratigraphic and comparative evidence was sufficient to identify the wall as belonging to the system of walled gardens around the Tudor Hall which stood on the mound until 1801
