This study analyzes the processes of water governance in the Rio Sabinal and Cañon del Sumidero watersheds in Chiapas, Mexico, with the goal of providing an overarching vision of their principal structural problems, as well as the mechanisms of governance designed to address them. Using the Governance Analytical Framework (GAF) set forth by Hufty (2004), it analyzes three distinct water governance scenarios in which numerous governmental and non-governmental actors come together.
