The National Museum of the Pacific War presents an oral interview with Morris Shoss. Shoss grew up in Texas and attended Rice University for three years, then received an appointment to West Point. Upon graduation he joined the Philippine Scouts, Seacoast and Antiaircraft Artillery. He married and moved his wife to the Philippines with him for seven months. After Pearl Harbor, the Philippines falls to the Japanese at Corregidor and Shoss becomes a prisoner of war. He ends up at Cabanatuan. He is moved to Mindanao, the Davao Penal Colony. He is put on the hellship Erie Maru in 1944 and transported from the Luzon Airstrip to Zamboanga. He is transferred to the Shinyo Maru, a Japanese hellship, which is struck and sunk by an American submarine...
