The purpose of the thesis was to develop a Safety Management System (SMS) for an aircraft component Maintenance Organization that covers the newest applicable legislation for the type of operation published by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). The aim was to establish a tailored plan of implantation for the target organization by identifying processes and practices appropriate to the size, scope of work and resources for the continuation of the system. SMS brings structure to the existing set of procedures, improving safety orientation by strengthening monitoring activities from reactive to proactive management of safety.
