Amplitude modulation of the gyrotron output has been achieved by modulation of the velocity distribution function of beam electrons through modulation of the anode voltage of the electron gun. Detailed experimental studies have been carried out for CW operation mode of the submillimeter wave Gyrotron FU IV. In this report the results are summarized and some theoretical considerations are presented
