The model-based, spatially distributed determination of storm hazards is important for a variety of planning tasks in the field of water resource management. On the basis of flood maps, protective measures can be planned, storm risk management plans can be drawn up, emergency plans and evacuation strategies can be developed, or urban and spatial planning decisions can be made.
