Revisión actual de la prevalencia de sífilis y complicaciones en pacientes con VIH.

Syphilis is a disease caused by sores on the genitals called chancres and is transmitted through contact and is asymptomatic. This article deals with a current review of the prevalence of syphilis and complications in patients with HIV. The objective is to determine the factors associated with the disease through a bibliographic documentary methodology, the information analyzed was selected through inclusion and exclusion criteria, and scientific articles from the years 2017 to 2022 were included. In the results, at a more relevant general level, it stands out that the risk of syphilis infection is higher in men and increased with age. In other relevant data, it was observed that HIV and syphilis infection had a variation of 8 to 25%. In conclusion, the high prevalence of syphilis among people with HIV infection highlights the need to target this population to prevent transmission of both infections. Since, the detection of syphilis in all HIV-infected persons and treatment have clinical and epidemiological importance.La sífilis es una enfermedad causada por llagas en los genitales llamadas chancros y se transmite a través del contacto y es asintomática. El presente artículo trata de una revisión actual de la prevalencia de sífilis y complicaciones en pacientes con VIH. El objetivo es determinar los factores asociados a la enfermedad mediante una metodología documental bibliográfica, la información analizada fue selección mediante criterios de inclusión y exclusión, y se incluyeron artículos científicos de los años 2017 a 2022. En los resultados, a nivel general más relevante destaca que el riesgo de infección por sífilis es mayor en los hombres y aumentó con la edad. En otros datos relevantes se observó que, la infección por VIH y sífilis tuvo una variación del 8 al 25%. En conclusión, la alta prevalencia de sífilis entre las personas con infección por el VIH destaca la necesidad de dirigirse a esta población para prevenir la transmisión de ambas infecciones.
