An increasing number of studies have been dedicated to analyzing the relationship between social contestation and the functioning of markets or companies. Developed from different theoretical perspectives, but with a strong anchoring in contributions from economic sociology and the sociology of social movements, these analyses bring to light the role played by social criticism in the emergence, transformation, and stabilization of markets.
