Evidence has shown that home modifications effectively create a safer, more independent way of living for adults with disabilities and may also benefit caregivers, their well-being, and the quality of care they provide. Occupational therapy plays a crucial role in promoting and initiating home modification opportunities, such as conducting evaluations and providing education. However, more awareness is needed to understand the benefits of home modifications for caregivers. This scoping review explores the existing research on how home modifications impact caregiver burden and identifies gaps for future literature
