Diversidade na universidade: a vivência institucional de discentes transgêneros na UFJF

Transgender people are those who identify with a gender different from the sex they were assigned at birth. In society, these people face many challenges and discrimination in all aspects of their lives, including education. According to research carried out in 2018, by the National Association of Directors of Federal Higher Education Institutions (Andifes), only 0.1% of all enrollments in public higher education were represented by trans people. This work has the general objective of explaining, in the speech of transgender students enrolled at UFJF, expository elements that indicate how these students are included in the university environment. For the specific objective, we seek to identify how the university prepares to receive transgender students and understand the quality of these students' institutional experience. This work is characterized by being exploratory in nature with a qualitative approach being carried out through research for theoretical basis and the analysis of interviews with transgender students at UFJF that make up the larger research project, coordinated by Prof. Dr. Denis Alves Perdigão, supervisor of this TCC, called: A stranger in the nest? The trajectory of transgender students at federal universities in Minas Gerais. The presence of transgender students at universities is a step forward in inclusion and diversity, but they still face discrimination and prejudice. It is necessary to implement affirmative actions, such as gender and gender identity training for teachers and staff, and create a Diversity and Inclusion Committee. As well as awareness-raising workshops, equal access policy, psychological support, support groups, continuous monitoring and an internal quota system. These actions strengthen a culture of inclusion and respect at the university, demonstrating commitment to equal opportunities. It is important to carry out more studies to understand the challenges faced by transgender people and combat prejudice and violence in society.Pessoas transgêneros são aquelas que se identificam com um gênero diferente do sexo que lhes foi atribuído ao nascer. Na sociedade, essas pessoas enfrentam muitos desafios e discriminação em todos os aspectos de suas vidas, incluindo a educação. Segundo a pesquisa realizada em 2018, pela Associação Nacional dos Dirigentes das Instituições Federais de Ensino Superior (Andifes), apenas 0,1% de todas as matrículas do ensino superior público eram representadas por pessoas trans. Este trabalho tem por objetivo geral explicitar, no discurso dos discentes transgêneros matriculados na UFJF, elementos expositivos que indiquem como é a inclusão destes alunos e alunas no ambiente universitário. Para o objetivo específico, buscamos identificar como a universidade se prepara para receber os discentes transgênero e entender a qualidade da vivência institucional desses discentes. Este trabalho caracteriza-se por ser de natureza exploratória com abordagem qualitativa sendo feita através de pesquisa para embasamento teórico e da análise de entrevistas de discentes transgêneros da UFJF que compõe o projeto de pesquisa de maior porte, coordenado pelo Prof. Dr. Denis Alves Perdigão, orientador deste TCC, denominado: Um(a) estranho(a) no ninho? A trajetória de discentes transgêneros nas universidades federais mineiras. A presença de estudantes transgênero nas universidades é um avanço em inclusão e diversidade, mas eles ainda enfrentam discriminação e preconceito. É necessário implementar ações afirmativas, como capacitação em gênero e identidade de gênero para professores e funcionários, e criar um Comitê de Diversidade e Inclusão. Bem como workshops de sensibilização, política de acesso igualitário, apoio psicológico, grupos de apoio, monitoramento contínuo e sistema de cotas internas. Essas ações fortalecem uma cultura de inclusão e respeito na universidade, demonstrando compromisso com a igualdade de oportunidades. É importante realizar mais estudos para entender os desafios enfrentados pelas pessoas transgênero e combater o preconceito e a violência na sociedade
