Impact de l’activité physique adaptée sur les relations sociales des personnes atteintes de schizophrénie

Schizophrenia affects 1% of the world's population. Individuals with schizophrenia have cognitive and social difficulties that often result in social and relational isolation. Within the Public mental health establishment (EPSM) of Morbihan, adapted physical activities (APA) are proposed to increase the social links, the social relations of the persons taken in charge. However, no tool to quantify these links has been proposed and the real impact of physical activity on these links in this institution is not known. In order to solve this problem, we created an observation grid reporting the different behaviors leading to social links created during the APA sessions. This study had two objectives. First, we wanted to know if the physical activity sessions had an impact on social ties by comparing their evolution at the beginning and at the end of the study. The secondary objective was to compare two activities in order to know which type of activity promotes social ties. During 6 weeks, 2 groups of 3 participants were able to practice soccer or strengthening in a public room. The results obtained show a positive evolution of the social links between the beginning and the end of the care, however the results in the comparison of the activities do not allow us to affirm that a collective activity in or outside the institution mainly favors the social links. The small number of participants is one of the major limitations of this study. Further research could be envisaged in order to improve the APA management of people with schizophrenia.La schizophrénie concerne 1% de la population mondiale, les individus qui en sont atteints ont des difficultés cognitives et sociales qui se traduisent très souvent par un isolement social et relationnel. Au sein de l’établissement public de santé mentale (EPSM) du Morbihan, les activités physiques adaptées (APA) sont proposées afin d’accroitre les liens sociaux, les relations sociales des personnes prises en charge. Cependant, aucun outil de quantification de ces liens n’a été proposé et le réel impact de l’activité physique sur ces liens dans cet établissement n’est pas connu. Afin de résoudre ce problème, nous avons créé une grille d’observation relatant les différents comportements entrainants des liens sociaux créés pendant les séances d’APA. Cette étude avait deux objectifs, dans un premier temps nous voulions savoir si les séances d’activités physiques ont un impact sur les liens sociaux en comparant leur évolution au début et à la fin de l’étude. Ensuite, l’objectif secondaire était de comparer deux activités entre elles afin de connaitre quel type d’activité favorise les liens sociaux. Durant 6 semaines, 2 groupes de 3 participants ont pu pratiquer du football ou du renforcement en salle publique. Les résultats obtenus montrent une évolution positive des liens sociaux entre le début et la fin de la prise en charge, cependant les résultats dans la comparaison des activités ne nous permettent pas d’affirmer qu’une activité collective dans ou hors de l’institution favorise principalement les liens sociaux. Le faible nombre de participants est une des limites majeures de cette étude. Des recherches complémentaires pourraient être envisageables afin d’améliorer la prise en charge en APA des personnes atteintes de schizophrénie
