Working paper du GATE n° 17-2001Considering a job search model, this paper investigates what conditions unemployed workers' geographic scope choice for their job search activities and its impact on unemployment duration. The properties of this model are tested by means of duration models econometrics. Econometric tests are carried out on individual transition data drawn from the French TDE survey of the DARES. We conclude to a negative effect of the prospected area enlargement on unemployment duration.
