National audienceIn this article we propose a innovative model to represent a non organised 3D pointsset. Based on superquadrics, this model permits to describe the points set with a superellipsoidunion. Two different methodologies are developed for segmenting and modelling the wholerepresentation: a Region Growing and a Split and Merge one. This latter provides a lowsensitive model compared to the first method. The representation is simple and compact, as only11 parameters are required per superellipsoid. This seems promising to be used for applicationssuch as 3D compression, or even 3D indexing and retrieval.
