International audienceThis article presents a synthesis of mire initiation since the last 15,000 years (Late Glacial and Holocene) in theEastern Massif central (France). This work proposes an analysis of the chronological distribution of newly formedmires based on a dataset of 112 radiocarbon ages (14C). The results are compared with long-term land coverchanges described by regional palaeoenvironmental (palynology and macrofossils), used to evaluate the degree oflandscape openness and anthropization (Anthropogenic Impact Factor = FIA), and by archaeological studies.
