This article examines the concept of empowerment in the context of the Anthropocene. It draws on various translations, definitions and interpretations and also on the historical approach to the concept in order to reassess such an approach at the dawn of the Anthropocene, particularly in the field of education and training. The concept of empowerment is present in the discourse of scientists who seek on the one hand to understand, explain and shed light on the educational issues and processes at work, and on the other hand to develop and propose solutions or ways of improving the existing situation.
