From images of utopia(s) to “stylemes” of utopian thought. An undogmatic reading of utopias The images of utopia in Thomas More's Utopia and in Ledoux's Architecture considered in its relation to art, customs and legislation, function as “analogons” (signs, icons exemplications) of internal tensions in the utopian project. These tensions correspond to stylemes in utopian thought : closures/breaks from the real world versus openings on to the outside world ; totalitarian sequencing versus thought of freedom through functionalism; finite world versus open world. Only by capturing all these tensions can a theoretical use and an anti-dogmatic practice of utopia emerge, which is faithful to the original emancipating aim.Les images d'utopie qui a...
