Dealing with the energy thematic in Istanbul, this paper provides some answers to the following two questions. How did the structures of local governance adapt themselves to the sustainable urban development requirements? Moreover, in an already socio-spatially fragmented city, does the access to the energy comfort not become a new opportunity to understand social distinctions? In this perspective, the example of the policy of connection to the network of natural gas brings interesting highlights.
