In recent years, cases of event-based community development utilizing public spaces have been developed around the world. This paper clarifies that these efforts, which are called placemaking and tactical urbanism, correspond to the transition from the modern era to the post-modern era, in other words, the shift from the industrial society to the post-industrial society and the information society. The analysis extracts keywords and features from the concepts of placemaking and tactical urbanism, and shows that they match the features of the information society.
