International audienceThe contribution aims to study the various forms and values of the island space in Salvatore Quasimodo's Poetry from the 1930s to the last book published in 1966. At first Sicily was closely connected to the exile condition experienced by the poet, while the writing contributes to reinforce a mythical value of the island and a deep feeling of loneliness. Nevertheless, without denying the references to the myth, the poetic work also shows a more social dimension in the representation of Sicily, especially after the end of the 1930s. The analysis of various poems dedicated to the island space allows us to delineate the coordinates of a pathetic and poetic quasimodian geography
