Introduction: Iliotibial band syndrome is a fairly common condition for runners because it is a repetitive sport. It is considered the second most common cause of lateral knee pain in runners. This injury is due to overuse. Generally, the pain forces the athlete to stop practicing the sport.Objective: The aim is to identify the different risk factors for the development of this syndrome in runners.Research methodology: To answer this etiological question, different databases were used to select the articles necessary for my review: Pubmed, Kinedoc, Cochrane Library.
