The Comparative of Using Communicative Language Teaching Method on Student’s Competence in English Writing Recount Text

The aims of the research are to find out about the students’ competence in English writing recount text by using communicative language teaching method, and to find out the comparative of using communicative language teaching method on students [competence in English writing recount text. The techniques of collecting the data are: 1.) observation, 2.) interview, 3.) test 4) Questioner. The population of the research is the students at the eighth year of MTs Ash Shiddiqiyyah with the total number of 110 students and the writer took 37% out of 110 students namely, 40 students as a sample of the research. So the sample was taken at random namely, 40 students. The test of the students’ competence in English writing recount text at pretest as X1 variable and the test of the students’ English writing recount text at posttest as X2 variable. The approach of the research in writing this thesis is quantitative. The result of the test shows that mean score students competence in English writing recount text by using CLT at pretest (X1) is 54.3 and posttest (X2 ) is 62.25. It means that the students’ competence by using CLT at the eighth year of MTs Ash Shiddiqiyyah can be considered as “Sufficient”. The value of t observed ( to ) is 0.015 and the degree of freedom ( df ) is 78 with the significance 5%, it shows 0.015 < 2.00. It means there is a significant comparative of using CLT method. The student’s response to the application of CLT method in learning writing recount text has positive effect, the student’s competence in learning English writing enhanced after receiving treatments and there is significant comparative of the communicative language teaching method on students’ competence in English writing recount text
