Congestion definitely occurs when the offered traffic load exceeds available capacity at any point in the wireless networks. To reduce congestion in the wireless networks, a compression technique can be adopted as one of the viable solution. In this paper, we study the well-known lossless compression techniques and analyse their performance of the compression ratio. This paper also discusses the advantages and disadvantages of the compression techniques in the domain of congested wireless networks
