This paper discusses the issue of how to solve multi-criteria decision making (MCDM) problems from the target perspective. In particular, instead of making use of the traditional normalization method, it tries to calculate the probability of meeting some pre-designed targets for every criterion, where target values can be of different types: such as fuzzy number, fuzzy interval numbers and so on, and then uses weighted aggregation method to calculate the overall value for each alternative, at last selects the alternative(s) maximizing these overall values. The method is illustrated by the same application example taken from literature to compare with previous methods. The original publication is available at JAIST Press http://www.jaist.ac....
