Studies on Fungistereol

Four kinds of mycosterols were isolated from the myselia of Penicillium chrysogennm Q-176 cultured by submerged process. They are ergosterol, fungiterol, ascosterol and a sterol 205°. The fourht sterol is assumed to be a mixture of γ-dihydroergosterol and small amounts of other sterols. The auther determined the chemical structure of fungisterol, which was hitherto unidentifyed, as Δ^<6, 7; 8, 9; 22, 23> -ergostatriene -3β-ol, and found that it is an isomer of ergosterol
