On the Stimulus Effect Autonomic Nervous System upon the Behavior-Formation (3) -Effect of Stress by Ad. & Ach. Stimuli-

Problem ; Influences of the Autonomic nervous system stimulus on the behavior are repressed by the parasympathetic nervous stimulus and accelerated by the parasympathetic nervous stimulus. The relation between these are antagonistic, and we found that it had close connection with the theories of “Homeostasis” by the W.B. Cannon & C. Bernald and of the “STRESSOR” by H. Selye. Our researches aimed at making clear the relation between the effects of stress by the sympathetic nervous stimulus and parasympathetic one ; the relation between the “Stimulus intencity” and its effects. Apparatus ; Revolving wheel Animals ; 40 mice (NＡⅡ)♂ each 15g. Stimulants ; Adrenalin for sympathetic nerves Acetylcholin for parasympathetic nerves Each quantity of them is 10⁻⁵g. 0.1cc, 0.3cc, and 10⁻⁴g. 0.1cc. Procedure ; After injecting Adrenalin or Acetylcholin to mice, we introduced tne revolving wheel, then made it act freely for 30 min. and recorded the alteration of their momentum during this time. Results ; (1) Stress by the sympathetic nervous and parasympathetic nervous stimulus has repressive effects on the all of behaviors. (2) The relation between stimulus intencity and effect of stress is functional one. (3) In the case of symathetic nervous system stimulus, the relation between “stimulus intencity” and the “effect of stress” is not always functional. From now on, we shall have to study on the functional relation between “stimulus intencity” and “effect of stress,” which should be studied according to the following order ; study on sympathetic nervous system, on “Humoral regulation” and “Internal secretion.
