認知発達への情報処理的アプローチの中で,本稿では注意容量または短期記憶容量の限界から知的発達を説明するPascual-LeoneのM容量モデルをとりあげた。彼のモデルの中で,1)実行方略の分析に基盤をおく機能的モデルであること,2)基本的構成概念および知的発達への展開,3)M容量の検証とその適用について概観し,この理論がもつ問題と今後の課題についていくつかの指摘を行なった。Information-processing approach has been dominating in recent studies of cognitive development. In this paper, Pascual-Leone's M-capacity theory was reviewed concerning to the following four points; 1) his theory can be regarded as a performance or functional model not a formal or structural model like Piaget's one, 2) fundamental constructs, e.g., schemes, field of activation, several boosters, 3) experiment which revealed that M-capacity increases with age, and 4) application his model to interpret Piaget's conservation tasks.
