Viewing poems of "Ogura-Fiakushu" through Teika Fujiwara's discussions on verse making of waka poems, it seems to be evident that Teika's opinions reflect on "Ogura-Fiakushu". In Teika's essays on waka poetry, he lays emphasis on two points by versification and/or selection of waka poems: One is principal (speculative) and the other historical. On the other hand, Teika's tendency of thinking much of Sandaishu and little of Shin-kokinshu in his essays is shown in his treatment of eleven favorite poets, 'Jozu' (veterans), or especially exclusion of Kinto Fujiwara, Gotoba-in and Juntoku-in.
