In order to investigate the phenomenon of electroluminescence in KI single crystals containing potassium metal colloids it is essential to obtain an information as to the formation mechanism of potassium metal colloids in crystals.A simple measurement system for the detection of the photoacoustic signal(PAS)was fabricated to study the nature of the potassium colloids in the thermal annealing processes.In comparison the intensities revealed in PAS measurements with the results obtained from the optical absorption measurements,it was found that both results agree well semi-quantitatively.The iso-thermal annealing processes at about 85℃ of densely colored KI specimens were monitored by PAS measurements.It was seen that there exists an optimum ...
